Lib Dems Celebrate Excellent Nottingham Results1.34.37pm GMT Sun 8th May 2005 The Lib Dems made gains across the country and picked up support and votes in almost every constituency. The campaign in Nottingham was no different. The Liberal Democrats increased their share of the vote, and beat the Conservatives into third place in Nottingham East. A by-election in the Wollaton East and Lenton Abbey ward of Nottingham South was held on the same day. The Liberal Democrats held the seat with candidate Tony Sutton joining the Lib Dem Group on Nottingham City Council. Nottingham East Issan Ghazni gained 6,848 votes, almost 10% more than in 2001. Nottingham South Cllr Tony Sutton gained 7,967 votes, 6.3% more than in 2001. Nottingham East Tim Ball gained 5,190 votes, 6.5% more than the last time.
