Ring Road -- Movement at Last!

12.00.00am GMT Sat 7th Jan 2006

For many years the FOCUS Team have had great problems in getting any problems on the ring road (Western Boulevard) sorted out. This is because it is a main trunk road. The Council does not maintain trunk roads because the Government is responsible. The part of Government responsible is known as the Highways Agency and they had a private contractor to do the work. It has proved nearly impossible to get action from either the Highways Agency or any answer at all from the private contractor.

Now, after some two years of negotiation, the Council are set to take over responsibility. Gary will raise again the issues that have not been sorted over the past 10 years. These include:

Safety rail on junction of Nuthall road/Western Boulevard

Cars blocking the footpath and/or cycle path

Bollards near the entrance to Southwold Drive

Large puddle on junction of Nuthall road/Western Boulevard

Overgrown shrubbery on Wilkinson Street.

Flooding problems along the length

Gary said, "I am very pleased that there is now some chance of action. I do not expect all these problems to be sorted straight away, but at least we can now make a start."
