Ring Road major work planned11.48.56pm GMT Sun 18th Feb 2007 Last year, the City Council took over the responsibility for the Ring Road through Nottingham, which includes Western Boulevard, Middleton Boulevard and Valley Road. The Ring Road cuts through three wards held by the Lib Dems: Wollaton East, Leen Valley and Basford. Previously, as a major road, it had been badly managed by a private firm directly on behalf of the Government. Now that the Council maintains the road, your local councillors have more say in what happens, and we are pointing out to them some issues that have been problems for years. The Council has made a bid for special funds to put in major works on the road, and this bid has been successful. Council officers are now drawing up the plans as to what should happen. They will be working on every junction on the ring road to make them more efficient, and they will be improving public transport along the length of the road. In the short term, this may mean even worse delays. Hopefully in the longer term, though, these improvements will make life better for all. Your local FOCUS team will make sure that the needs of local residents who live on the ring road are considered as well as the needs of motorists.
